Beauty Blurb: Beauty Box 5 Review - March 2014

Beauty Box 5 Review: March 2014

Beauty Box 5 is a subscription service that delivers a mix of five full-size and sample beauty products to your door every month for just $12. They aim to introduce customers to new brands and products, including some that are niche, luxury, and eco-friendly. It's a great way to discover new beauty faves!

I just got my March goodies from Beauty Box 5. For some reason I didn't receive one in February (?) and didn't really notice until my March box came in, so I'm not quite sure what happened there (hence the absence of a review last month), but ah well. I'll try to get it sorted out.

Here's what I got in my March box:

Beauty Box 5: March 2014

Tree Hut - Shea Body Butter
Jane's Pick - All Natural Soap
Bellapierre Cosmetics - Makeup Base
Swissco - Dual-Sided Facial Pad
H20 Plus - Hand & Nail Cream

Review after the jump.

Beauty Box 5 Review: March 2014
  1. Swissco - Dual-sided Facial Pad - This little circular facial pad is textured on one side and soft terry-cloth on the other. When I first took it out of the package, I was worried it would be too harsh to use on the face because it felt really rough, but once I soaked it in the shower, it puffed up and softened a little bit. I used it with my regular face wash and lightly buffed my face using the textured side. It exfoliates well--just use light (no need to press it too hard!), circular motions.
  2. Tree Hut - Shea Body Butter - My favorite in this month's box! It has a rich, creamy texture, smells like a tropical cocktail, and leaves your skin feeling luxuriously smooth. My skin is really dry and this seemed to really last throughout the day. Bonus: it's organic and paraben free.
  3. Bellapierre Cosmetics - Makeup Base - This all-in-one makeup base can be used as an eyeshadow primer, illuminator, and concealer. It's nude with a pink undertone and goes on semi-sheer. I found that it works and blends decently as a concealer for light blemishes (I dabbed a little over my BB cream and finished with powder), but it may not work well with all skintones. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to perform as well when used as an eyeshadow primer: I noticed that I had some creasing on my lids at the end of the day.
  4. Jane's Pick - All Natural Soap - Made from an all-natural blend of herbs and flowers, this handmade soap smelled fresh and light. It has a comforting sweet and woodsy aroma (I believe I got the "Patience" scent), and left my hands feeling clean and soft.
  5. H20 Plus - Hand & Nail Cream - I was looking forward to trying this hand cream because their body wash was such a hit last time. However, I wasn't too crazy about the scent in this one. It moisturizes really well but I thought it smelled a little too musky.

I liked that this month's box was filled with really practical products (I can always use a good moisturizer). If you're interested, you can sign up for Beauty Box 5 too and start receiving 5 beauty products every month!
