Los Angeles Fashion Council Fashion Week Fall 2013 Collections - Sarine Marie, SOLDAT, 8000 Nerves & Odylyne

LAFC Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall 2013: Sarine Marie

Los Angeles born and raised designer Sarine Berberian just recently launched her high-end contemporary women's line, Sarine Marie. The collection was a mix of dresses and work-ready separates in muted purples and grays. Overall, it was sophisticated but easy to wear, with flattering silhouettes and feminine ruffles and pleats. I especially loved the way the collar in the coat above (4th photo) cascaded in waterfall pleats.
LAFC Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall 2013: SOLDAT

SOLDAT was breath of fresh air, with the attention-grabbing bright orange pieces, angular lines, and even the models' unconventional and edgy hairstyles. Specializing in tailored suit separates made from natural and organic materials, SOLDAT is known for bringing a fashion forward approach to workwear. The collection's strengths are the bold use of print and color, strong and modern shapes (those sharp shoulders are smart and contemporary!), and bold contrasting details. It's perfect for the modern professional woman who wants to stand out.
LAFC Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall 2013: 8000 Nerves

One of the more wearable everyday collections, 8000 Nerves is actually a personal favorite of mine (I have a dress and blouse from ModCloth by them). I could easily see myself wearing practically everything because it was filled with things I already love, like mini-skirts, retro collars, and youthful dresses. Many pieces had unexpected details that highlighted the backs of the garments, like ruffles, bow sashes, and dainty cutouts. I love that the collection is heavily reminiscent of 1960's and 70's styles, but are still fresh and fun without being costume-y .
LAFC Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall 2013: Odylyne

Perfect for the dark dreamers and wayward wanderers, Odylyne was definitely a stunner of a show. Eerie but beautiful, the entire collection was made up of gorgeously draped maxi dresses and pants that were graceful and elegant but easy to wear. Lush lace, soft jersey, and sheer chiffons added such lovely movement to the dresses as the models carefully glided down the runway. I appreciated the tasteful purple galaxy print as well--I haven't seen such sophisticated galaxy print dresses and pants before. The entire collection was immaculate and well thought-out. I'm so looking forward to the next collection. Also: I need to get my hands on one of those dresses.
