My Favorite Things of 2012

Sure, it's a few weeks into 2013 already, but why not play Oprah and share with you some of my favorite things from last year? Thanks to Katrina for tagging me!

2012 was interesting. Lots of highs (attending MAGIC as a blogger, being on E! news, seeing friends I haven't seen in a long time) and a few lows (losing my job and being unemployed for a bit), but let's focus on the positives (and a few fluffy picks in-between). And now, my favorite things of 2012:

Favorite makeup? I went through a weird lipstick binge last year and fell in love with Kate Spade's Supercalifragilipsticks. I own "Pop Art Pink" and "Parisian Pink"--both of which are pretty much perfect. They're my go-to lipsticks because the shades are neutral ("Pop Art" is wonderfully bright and girly, while "Parisian" is a lovely raspberry color) , and they moisturize without being heavy--kind of like a really pigmented lip butter. I'd like to get the other shades too (especially the peach and red).

Favorite book? Definitely Courtney Summers' This is Not a Test. I was never much of a zombie person (I prefer good old-fashioned ghosts), but I've been warming up to them after reading Hollowland and watching The Walking Dead--I've even been dreaming about them (truth). Courtney Summers is already one of my favorite authors and I wasn't sure if she could tackle paranormal fiction, but I was wrong. The book is more about the main character's internal and emotional struggles with being abandoned by her sister, but don't worry, there's a few gory zombie-filled scenes thrown in for good measure.

Favorite song/album? Metric's Synthetica. It's been on my playlist since it got released over summer. I just never get tired of them--I always have a few of their songs, new and old, on my current playlist. My favorite song on the album is "Speed the Collapse".

Favorite movie? ...I hardly remember going to the theaters last year. I rarely ever go because I'm such a harsh critic when it comes to movie trailers and nothing ever seems interesting enough to shill $12 for (I'm more of a TV person).

Except Hunger Games. I kind of loved Hunger Games.

One thing you're grateful for? Being able to live at home while I save some money and look for a better job. I love my parents for helping me out. Sure, it's annoying and it sucks sometimes, but it definitely helps relieve some of my stress.

Greatest challenge? Uhhh, losing my job and being unemployed for almost half the year. Finding a job is hard, especially if you don't have a lot of job experience (ahem. me) and still have student loans that need to be paid off. Luckily, I got employed in August and have taken up a few other paid gigs, so that's helped.

What are you looking forward to in 2013? I'm looking forward to working with more brands and companies, and meeting more people. I always have so much fun at events with other bloggers and can't wait to see what other opportunities I'll have this year! Here's to bigger and better things!

Awesome people I'd like to tag:
