Blogger Camp 2011 at Woodbury University

Blogger Camp took place on day two of Retail Camp, a two-day conference for fashion and retail professionals. While day one focused on luxury branding in the retail industry, day two was all about the bloggers! It featured educational panels on the business of blogging, technology in the blogging world, government and legal regulations, financing, and more. When I found out it was being held at my alma mater, Woodbury University, I volunteered to help out at the event. I was really interested in the topics all the speakers were discussing and hoped to learn more about resources and opportunities in the fashion blogging world.

I appreciated that they covered all the basics (disclosure, terms of service on style sharing sites, copyright issues) and then some. It was also very inspiring to hear how the panelists from "The Business of Blogging" (Jennine Jacob/The Coveted, Erin Weinger/Style Section LA, Marie Denee/The Curvy Fashionista, Valerie Elizabeth/Society Stylist, Tina Craig & Kelly Cook/Bag Snob, and Mary Hall/Recessionista) started out from humble beginnings--blogging mostly as a hobby and not expecting the amount of popularity and opportunities they receive today. I even got to meet a few of them afterwards!

The panelists were really nice and fun to talk to. I'll admit--I did have a bit of a fangirl moment when me and my friend Gina went up to meet Jennine Jacob after the first panel, but oh well. All you fashion bloggers would understand, I'm sure.

It was also a pleasure to see some of my favorite fashion blogger buddies:
Karen and Sasha
Heather and Alex

If you're a fashion blogger based in California and couldn't make it this year, I highly recommend going next year! It's a great resource and you get to meet other fashion bloggers and people in the industry (and you may have a chance to meet some of the speakers and panelists as well!).
