I'm still learning how to use my Canon Rebel XSi, so taking runway photos was a bit of a challenge. The models walk down the runway pretty fast, and some of them barely strike a pose at the end of the catwalk, leaving me with a fraction of a second to snap a good photo.

At Project Ethos last month, one of my favorite moments to capture was the intro to Melissa Velia's runway show--a pretty goth ballerina performing in her black toe shoes. I scrambled to find the appropriate settings on my camera and took as many shots as I could, but almost all of them came out blurry.

But I ended up liking the blurry effect. A lot. I liked that it added movement and made the dancer look mysterious.

Sometimes mistakes can be good things.

Be sure to check out Melissa Velia's designs. She's one of the nicest, most talented designers in LA! :)
