Me, jumping in Grant Park
This post is a little overdue, sorry. It got lost in the holiday confusion. For those of you who don't remember, I went on a trip to Illinois with my sister during the first week of November. We had been to Chicago a couple years before to visit our uncle, and we loved it so much that we knew we wanted to go again!
Thanks to my regular paychecks and extra Etsy money, I was able to take some time off work and go with her just for fun. We even got to visit my friend Nathalie, who moved there a while ago to pursue theatre set design (thanks for showing us around and feeding us, Nathalie!). We also visited my uncle for a few days in Bloomington, and he took us to the Abraham Lincoln memorial and St. Louis to visit the arch. I had never been to the arch before, so it was nice to see it in person.
Here's a photo journal of our trip--with a few food collages--because eating is what we basically did while we were there (besides shopping and fun touristy things, of course).
The Bean at Millenium Park
Chicago skyline at dusk from Navy Pier
Me, in Graceland Cemetary
My friend Nathalie "participating" in the Women's Suffrage Movement in the Chicago History Museum
Departure Lounge, the musical my friend Nathalie worked on and took us to see
The view from the Willis Tower
My sister and me (terrified) standing in the clear glass box ledge at the top of Willis Tower
Statue outside Abraham Lincoln's Tomb (if you rub his nose, it's good luck!)
Gateway Arch in St. Louis
The best places we ate during our trip:
My childhood dreams come true: champagne and brunch at the American Girl Place
Fancy dessert at the Palmer House Hotel (SO good!)
And lastly, the BEST Chicago deep dish pizza at Giordano's
Yay! I'm finally all caught up with everything. All of the past giveaway winners from December will be announced soon and I will be hosting my big giveaway this week! Stay tuned. :)
