Spring Essentials | Featuring L'Eggs

Spring into L'eggs!
Photos: me wearing my new L'Eggs Sheer Energy (left) and my spring essentials (right)

The L'eggs egg has returned and they sent me a little basket of goodies to celebrate! The sheer L'eggs tights (I'm wearing them in the photo above) instantly gave me flawless looking legs and a little bit of color. They're perfect for transitioning dresses and mini skirts (no more sweater tights!) into spring. They even helped me keep warm while it was cooler in the morning.

In addition to my sheer tights, my spring essentials are chunky oversized cat-eye sunglasses (I splurged on the "Kitten" pair from Wildfox; also available in tortoiseshell and coral), a fresh DIY mani, a bright fruity-floral fragrance (my pick: Marc Jacobs Daisy Sunshine; the newer Marc Jacobs Daisy Delight smells similar too), sheer pink lips, matte BB cream (bought the one from Rimmel and love it so far!), a sweet scented candle, and the new Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer I got to try recently.

Colors), Daisy Sunshine (Marc Jacobs), Black chunky cateye "Kitten" sunglasses (Wildfox), and Sheer Energy pantyhose (c/o L'eggs)

Beauty Blurb: Beauty Box 5 Review + Swatches | April 2014

Beauty Box 5 Review: April 2014

Beauty Box 5 is a subscription service that delivers a mix of five full-size and sample beauty products to your door every month for just $12. They aim to introduce customers to new brands and products, including some that are niche, luxury, and eco-friendly. It's a great way to discover new beauty faves!

I can be a bit of a makeup junkie (I'm currently going through a seemingly never-ending lipstick phase), so this has got to be my favorite Beauty Box yet! April's box included eye shadow, lip liner, and a full-size lipstick (yesss!). The non-makeup products were pretty awesome too. Here's what I got in my Beauty Box 5 April box:

Beauty Box 5: April 2014

Blum Naturals - All-Purpose Cleansing Wipes
BH Cosmetics - California Collection Eye Shadow
Bonne Bell - Lip Liner in "Boysenberry"
Jergens - Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer
Nicka K - Lipstick in "Concerto"

Beauty Box 5 Review: April 2014

  1. Blum Naturals - All-Purpose Cleansing Wipes in "Citrus Scent" - I usually carry a tiny bottle of antibacterial gel in my bag, but these are so much better for messy hands--and natural too! The citrus scent smells great and isn't overpowering. I used them to wipe the makeup off my arm in-between swatching, and they worked well. Bonus: it's only $2.39 for 30 wipes in the cute to-go container.
  2. Bonne Bell - Lip Liner in "Boysenberry" - A no-nonsense lipliner that goes on smoothly and stays put. "Boysenberry" is a deep neutral raspberry mauve that looks great with darker neutral pinks and plums. Swatch below.
  3. Nicka K - Lipstick in "Concerto" - Lightweight, semi-sheer, and decent lasting power with a light fruity scent. "Concerto" is a gorgeous shimmery neutral peach that complemented my skin nicely. It's ideal for casual and beachy looks for spring and summer! Swatch below.
  4. Jergens - Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer in "Medium to Tan" - I've only used one packet so far because I want to see how long it lasts, but I actually like it so far. I usually tan naturally pretty easily, but being stuck in an office all day the past year hasn't helped much. I've never used self-tanner before so I was a bit scared. This was so easy to use (just put it on and wait for a few minutes!) and I was pleasantly surprised at how natural the color looked. The "medium to tan" shade worked really well with my skintone and deepened it about 1-2 shades. I did get some streaks on my arm, but that's probably because I applied it hastily. It's been 3 days and is fading gradually, but still noticeable. I'll use the other packets when I break out the bare legs.
  5. BH Cosmetics - California Eye Shadow Collection - A bold eye shadow collection inspired by my home state. Each shadow is semi-sheer with a light shimmer. "Hollywood" is a deep violet, "San Francisco" is a dark mocha, and "Malibu" is a vibrant gold. "San Francisco" and "Malibu" are great neutrals for everyday, while "Hollywood" would be fun to use for a smokey eye. Swatches are below (shown without using eye shadow primer).

Here are the swatches for the makeup:

Instagram Photo Diary: Spring 2014

Instagram Photo Diary: Spring 2013
(left to right, top to bottom)

  1. Proof that Target's dollar section is the best. I organized paychecks, tax papers, contracts, school stuff, and other important documents with these cute magazine holders, and even made labels with the matching stickers and scrapbooking paper I got from there too.
  2. Had a little lunch date on Melrose with these gorgeous Flock Together girls! Ashley and I got to meet up with Elana and a couple of her friends during their spring break. It was so great to finally meet her after swapping and reading her blog for a couple of years. She's so sweet and easy to talk to in person.
  3. Thanks to my dad for bringing me back a few flats from Posh Pocket during his trip to the Philippines! Foldable flats aren't anything new, but these are the cutest ones I've seen. They come in the latest styles and colors, and even include a carrying pouch that converts into a tote if you want to change out of your shoes and into the flats. They have padding and are way more comfortable than some of my regular flats too. I wish they had these in the states.
  4. A little peek of my new haircut. It's the shortest I've had it since I was a child. I'm still getting used to it, but I'm very happy with how it turned out. It's exactly what I wanted.
  5. My grandma's birthday. We showered her with pretty flowers and some bubbly (her favorite things).
  6. My co-worker brought a box of donuts to share with everyone at work. I chose the one with sprinkles, of course.
  7. A little surprise from Lucky Brand's Johnny Cash collaboration: a screenprinted tank and his new album.
  8. My sister (left) and I sometime in the 90s. Check out those puff shoulders on my sis and our crazy straight bangs. We were stylin'.

A few snaps from spring so far.
