Swap & Style: Neon Pink Stripes

Swap & Style with Sweets and Hearts and The Demure Muse featuring neon pink striped long-sleeve t-shirt by Aeropostale
Swap & Style: Neon Pink Stripes

Here's the second part of my latest Swap & Style with Katrina!

If you looked at my t-shirt and sweater stash in my dresser, you'd see my weird obsession with striped knits. Tees, sweaters, a romper, a couple of dresses--mostly black and white (adventurous, I know). So I was ecstatic when I opened Katrina's package and saw that she sent a striped tee, but in a neon pink! Finally, some bright stripes to play with (because I'm too chicken to buy some for myself). I never knew how to wear them...until now.

Turns out it's pretty easy to wear brightly colored stripes! You just have to pair it with a neutral. I wore it with a gray skirt, black tights, coral pink flats to match, and a gray beret. It was a casual weekend outfit I wore while running around town.

Outfit Details:
White and neon pink long-sleeve striped t-shirt (Katrina's, from Aeropostale)
Gray pleated high-waisted Skirt (Forever 21)
Black tights
Gray beret (Forever 21)
Coral pink bow flats (Poetic Licence)
Custom gold name necklace (c/o oNecklace)

I love how Katrina styled it! She knotted the front and paired it with a gorgeous black skirt. It looks so casual yet glamorous at the same time! The red lip is also a perfect touch.

Beauty Blurb: Beauty Box 5 February Unboxing with Review + Swatches

Beauty Blurb: Beauty Box 5 February Unboxing Review + Swatches with Marsk, Revlon, Absolute New York, Avon, and GlamGlow
Beauty Box 5 Review: February 2015

Beauty Box 5 is a subscription service that delivers a mix of five full-size and sample beauty products to your door every month for just $12. They aim to introduce customers to new brands and products, including some that are niche, luxury, and eco-friendly. It's a great way to discover new beauty faves!

It's time for another Beauty Box 5 un-boxing! I'm glad I got to try some more eye makeup, but I was most looking forward to testing out the tingling mud max. It's fun pampering yourself every once in a while with luxurious face products. Bonus: BB5 even included a $20 gift card to use at Marsk, a natural and organic makeup brand, so that was pretty cool!

Beauty Blurb: Beauty Box 5 February Unboxing Review + Swatches with Marsk, Revlon, Absolute New York, Avon, and GlamGlow
Beauty Box 5 Review: February 2015 (c/o)
  1. Revlon - Colorstay Nail Enamel in "Spanish Moss" - This nail polish applies smoothly (no bubbles!) and comes in a wide range of shades. The brush is contoured so that it applies cleanly around the edges, too. It was completely opaque in two coats. Swatch below.
  2. Marsk - Mineral Eye Shadow in "Vanilla Frosting" - I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderfully shimmery this eye shadow was! It's a loose mineral shadow that's subtle enough to use as a highlighter. Swatch below.
  3. Absolute New York - Absolute Love Lip Balm in "Strawberry" - Lightweight with a hint of strawberry, this lip balm also has the slightest pink tint. Pucker up!
  4. GlamGlow - Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment (smaller size available here) - My favorite sample in the box! You apply this mud mask in a thin layer, leave on for 10 minutes (it has a pleasant, cooling sensation while it dries up), and rinse off with warm water in a circular motion, using your hands to exfoliate your face. It made my skin so soft, and my complexion immediately improved. My only complaint is that the sample size wasn't bigger ;)
  5. Avon - Big Color Eye Pencil in "Feeling Natural" - So easy to use! This creamy eye shadow pencil applies smoothly and is sheer with a light shimmer--just glide it on your eyelids and you're good to go! The "Feeling Natural" shade I got works well as a highlighter too.  It's neutral and would work well with all skintones. Swatch below.

Swap & Style: Grace in Gray

Swap & Style with Sweets and Hearts and The Demure Muse featuring a gray oversized sweater tunic with pink tulle and rhinestones
Swap & Style: Gray oversized sweater with pink tulle and rhinestones

Because our latest Swap & Style happened to have two pieces with a little bit of pink, Katrina and I just had to post them this month for Valentine's Day! I sent this oversized gray sweater tunic over to Katrina. The bottom is adorned with pink tulle on the bottom and tiny rhinestones. It's unabashedly girly, but it's also casual and comfy due to the slouchy fit. It's got a bit of a lounge-y ballerina thing going.

I like that we're posing almost the same.
And we even have the same color palette going on! Great minds.

I wore it to a fashion show a few months ago. It was warm outside, so I wore it as a dress--all I had to do was wear a slip underneath. I accessorized with a black cloche hat, my black leather Alice + Olivia satchel, and black pumps from Seychelles.

Outfit Details:
Gray oversized sweater with pink tulle and rhinestones (Forever 21)
Black leather quilted "Olivia" satchel (Alice + Olivia)
Black cloche hat (Zara)
Black suede "Ampersand" pumps (Seychelles)
Gold name necklace (c/o oNecklace)
Bunny necklace (made by Katrina!)

Katrina creatively styled the sweater with layers. I love the detailing on the quilted vest and how it contrasts nicely with the sweater--I would've never thought to pair it with something like that! Her pink bow purse also brings out the pink tulle.

Part II will be coming in a couple of weeks (more pink!).
