Beauty Box 5 Review: July 2014

  1. Body Drench - Candy Licious Lips in "Lime Gumdrop" - A lightweight moisturizing lip balm that's infused with beeswax, coconut oil, and Vitamin E. The "Lime Gumdrop" flavor reminds me of the lime SweeTarts (yum!).
  2. Revlon - Bold Lacquer Mascara in Black- A great mascara if you want natural-looking volume. It didn't smudge or flake throughout the day. The brush is the best part--it separated my lashes really well without clumping at all! See me wearing it below.
  3. Anna Naturals - Glowing Mama Walnut Tree Face & Body Scrub - This vegan formula doesn't contain any harsh chemicals, parabens, or artificial fragrances. You can use it on both your body and face. I tried it on both in the shower. It's ideal if you want an exfoliant that's gentle and natural.
  4. Starlooks - Lip Liner in "Tipsy" - This creamy lip liner goes on matte and extremely opaque, and doesn't budge once it's set. The color "Tipsy" pairs perfectly with other orange-toned cream corals (I tried it with Too Faced's "Juicy Melons" and it was a match made in heaven!). Swatch below.
  5. HASK - Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment (Pack of 12) - This argan oil deep conditioning hair treatment is perfect for when your hair is dry and damaged (~summer beach hair, anyone?). It left my hair feel soft and smooth without weighing it down. Just shampoo as usual and apply it in the shower while your hair is still wet. After 10 minutes, rinse it out like normal. Each packet is a little over $2 and contains enough for up to 2 treatments. Amazing price and so simple to use!

Grazing in the Grass | featuring Ducks in a Row

Outfit Post featuring Ducks in a Row cloche hat and giraffe print dress, Melie Bianco colorblock satchel, black t-strap heels

Okay, so I've been back from Portland for a while now. It's just really hard getting back into the swing of things when I'm still very much in vacation mode (especially since I had a long weekend for the 4th of July right after). I had a wonderful time with my friends (eating, mostly) and will share some photos from my trip soon.

When I got back, I had a lovely package from Ducks in a Row waiting for me. Inside was this black giraffe print dress and a  black cloche hat with an adorable yellow bow. The San Francisco brand is definitely my cup of tea: bright colors, quirky prints, and vintage-inspired pieces with a modern twist. I'm looking forward to their future collections--especially the hats! They have quite the selection.

Swap & Style: Summer School

Swap & Style: White and navy short-sleeve tie-neck romper
Swap & Style: White & Navy Tie-Neck Romper

Part II of my latest Swap & Style with my blogger bff Katrina!

I know Katrina isn't typically a fan of rompers, but this one looks more like a blouse-and-shorts combo anyway, so I thought she might like it. Plus, it has this irresistible preppy school uniform thing going on, and I wanted to see her take on it. I could always use some inspiration for this romper, especially since I required layers last time during winter (also: RIP long ponytail-length hair).

I left the bow at the neck tied with a loose knot to resemble a typical necktie (maybe I should learn how to tie one properly for next time), and paired it with a gray boyfriend cardigan, bird printed tights, and patent oxfords.

Outfit style post: white and navy short-sleeve tie-neck romper, gray boyfriend cardigan, bird print tights, black patent jazz oxford flats
Outfit Details:
White and navy tie-neck short-sleeve romper (Forever 21; from last year)
Heather gray boyfriend cardigan (Loverocks)
Black bird print tights (Urban Outfitters)
Black patent bow 'York Jazz' oxford flats (Me Too)

I love that Katrina tied the sash into a bow, and paired the romper with a brown crossbody bag and heels. The color palette is classic, while the shoes and bag are modern and grown-up. The great thing about this romper is that it has quite a few details and can be left as is during warm weather.
