Photo Diary: Concept Fashion Week SS15

Concept Fashion Week Los Angeles - Ace Museum - SS15

Here are some of my favorite shots from my first time attending Concept Fashion Week Los Angeles. The designers skewed alternative, with streetwear and avant-garde collections for Spring/Summer 2015. It was definitely more of an artsy crowd, but I still had a lot of fun.

Beauty Blurb: Paula Dorf 2+1 for Brows Neutral Powder & Perfect Brow Brush Review

Beauty Blurb: Paula Dorf 2+1 for Brows Neutral Powder & Perfect Brow Brush Review
Beauty Blurb: Paula Dorf 2+1 for Brows Neutral Powder & Perfect Brow Brush (c/o) Review

I've been paying more attention to my brows lately. It's amazing how a good brow can really frame your face! It's possible to have natural looking brows that still make a statement--that's where brow powder and a good brush come in.

I was given the opportunity to try out Paula Dorf's 2+1 for Brows and Perfect Brow Brush. I tried it in "neutral", which consisted of medium brown and ashy brown shades, and a little bit of wax for finishing.

I was delighted to find that the brow powders were actually very pigmented. I only needed to use a little to get the look I wanted, so I know the product will last a long time. The shades are great for mixing too--I used the ashy brown with a little bit of the medium brown to create a custom shade that matched perfectly. As for the Perfect Brow Brush, it really is perfect. It's thin, angled, and soft, making it ideal for creating and filling in any type of arch. It's precise and easy to use

Tips: To use, I recommend applying the powder a little at a time, paying attention to sparse areas and blending carefully with the rest of your eyebrows. For added definition (this is where the brush really shines!), carefully (and lightly) trace your natural brow shape and keep the angles straight and sharp, then use the brush to blend and soften. Use the brush to smooth a little bit of the wax over your brows and you're all set! Mine lasted all day and I didn't need any touch ups.

Falling for Fall | Featuring Paige Denim, Freebird by Steven Boots & Zappos

Fall fashion style outfit post featuring Paige Skyline Skinny jeans, Freebird by Steven Quebec boots, Zappos

In partnership with Zappos, I styled my new Paige jeans and Freebird boots with neutral accessories and feminine details!

It finally feels like fall and I totally welcome the changes.
(well, we still have freak 90 degree hot days randomly, but some days are actually pretty chilly)

I'm kicking off the new season with some classic fall staples that are classic, understated, and go with just about anything: black jeans and over-the-knee boots from Zappos! Zappos is actually one of my favorite places to shop because hellooo fast & free shipping and 365 day return policy. Also, their customer service is pretty awesome. Not only are they available 24/7, but they're super friendly too.

I got the "Skyline Skinnies" by Paige Denim in a true, deep black. I've been wanting black pants (that aren't leggings) for fall because they're versatile and can be dressed up or down pretty easily. Paige strives to design pieces you'll live in--jeans that go from morning to moonlight; the perfect pair that works like a charm, always; pieces to help you stand tall in what you're wearing, and take you exactly where you want to go.

I was also introduced to Freebird by Steven boots (I got the over-the-knee "Quebec" boots in black), which are handcrafted from start to finish, using a traditional Goodyear construction, in which stacks of leather are hammered together and carefully stitched to create a virtually indestructible sole. This technique has been used to create the highest quality boots for centuries.

Cascades of Coral

Style outfit post featuring coral high-low maxi dress with lace and cutout back, tortoiseshell cat-eye sunglasses, Kate Spade Saturday black satchel

The last time Katrina and I mailed each other a new Swap & Style piece, I found something else in the package: this beautiful coral dress! A birthday present from my blogger bff.

Thanks to Katrina's impeccable taste and thorough knowledge of my personal style, she was able to pick something that I completely loved (re: the color, lace, and cool cutout back!). I don't know anyone else (especially someone I've only met in person once) who knows my style better than she does. It's crazy.

It was the perfect dress to wear to my family friend's bridal shower. I styled it with my cat-eye tortoiseshell sunglasses from Sunglass Warehouse, black wedges, and my black half-circle bag from Kate Spade Saturday.
