Swap & Style: A Little Bit of Tulle

Swap & Style with Sweets and Hearts and The Demure Muse featuring pink tulle dress from H&M
Swap & Style: Pink Tulle Midi Dress (Katrina's, H&M)

For the second part of our swap, Katrina sent over a pink midi dress with a tulle mesh overlay from H&M. I think we both have a thing for ballerina-esque pieces. The soft shade of pink is just so pretty, and the single layer of mesh keeps it from looking too poufy or overkill.

And the silhouette was so flattering! When I first pulled it out of the package and tried it on, I looked in the mirror and was like Oh, this fits really nicely! I checked the size tag and was confused by the 14Y at first.

Katrina had sent me dress made for a pre-teen girl--but it actually fits well because it's really just a simple jersey knit tank dress (and the kid's sizing would explain the "midi" length, which happens to be trendy anyway). Cool.

It was pretty warm out when I wore it, so I styled it with just a couple of gold accessories--a belt and Rebecca Minkoff bag--and gray suede ankle-strap wedges. I also sported a big 'ol ballerina bun just because.

Gold metal cream belt (came with another dress)
Gold leather "Swing" bag (Rebecca Minkoff)
Gray suede ankle-strap wedges (Dolce Vita)

Katrina mixed things up a little by layering a gray skull tee over the dress and accessorizing with an oversized boyfriend watch and red wedges. It's an unexpected combination that's still fun and easy! Don't forget to check out her blog for the details.

Lesson of the day: Check the kid's section every now and then because you might find something that's cool and surprisingly appropriate for an adult. Just be sure to style it like one.

Hope you enjoyed our latest Swap & Style!
Until next time. xx

Swap & Style: Perfectly Plaid

Swap & Style with Sweets and Hearts and The Demure Muse featuring a red plaid tie-neck shirt by Keds
Swap & Style: Plaid Tie-Neck Shirt (Tommy Girl)

I'm so excited to post the first Swap & Style of the year! This is one of my favorite series and I'm glad Katrina and I have kept it up the past few years. It's always fun surprising each other with a random piece from each of our closets.

First up: my plaid tie-neck blouse. I've had it for a while (the brand was very short-lived! R.I.P. Tommy Girl at Macy's) and had yet to feature it on the blog, so I figured I'd send it over to Katrina to try it out too.

I kept it pretty preppy with scalloped khaki shorts, a striped satchel from Anthropologie, and boat flats.

Khaki scalloped shorts (Lush)
Brown leather and navy/white striped satchel (Jesslyn Blake via Anthropologie)
Brown boat shoes (c/o Wet Seal)

Don't you just love how put together Katrina looks even in jeans? I also like how she knotted the necktie instead of tying it in a bow.

Stay tuned for Part II, where we style Katrina's pink tulle dress!

#GoPhone and Get on With Your Life!

AT&T Go Phone/GoPhone Review with HTC Desire 610
HTC Desire 610 GoPhone (c/o AT&T)

DISCLOSURE: This post is sponsored. All products mentioned and reviewed on this page are compliments of AT&T. All opinions of the products are my own.

Last month, I partnered with AT&T to try out a GoPhone for 30 days. Armed with my very own HTC Desire 610 and an entire month of unlimited data, calls, and texts, I basically had everything I needed in a phone and the flexibility I wanted to fit my personal lifestyle!

AT&T Go Phone/GoPhone Review with HTC Desire 610
HTC Desire 610 GoPhone (c/o AT&T)

The HTC Desire was just like my old smartphone but with an unlimited plan, so switching was actually extremely easy once I backed it up with all my contacts and favorite apps. In addition to the unlimited texts and calls, I had unlimited data which meant I could Tweet, Instagram, check blog stats, send e-mails, and use the traffic/map apps without worrying about going over my data plan (which happens more often than I'd like to admit).

Having a GoPhone means you can pick the phone (even an iPhone!) and the plan to fit your needs without making a commitment,.

Change your phone. Change your plan. You have the freedom to do whatever you want, when you want! Here's what else I love about the GoPhone:

  • No annual contract! Again, pick the plan based on your lifestyle and budget, and change it when you need to. There are even options to pay month-to-month or refill as necessary. Refill cards are available and thousands of retail locations. Signing up for auto-refill is easy, too.
  • Different rate plans offer great value for basic messaging and smartphones. If you're an internet savvy social butterfly, you can get a plan with unlimited everything. If you don't use your phone that much or only want to call and text, choose a plan with the basics. It's up to you.
  • Choose from the latest Android and Windows devices, including smartphones like the one I got to try out (I got an HTC Desire 610).
  • Use your own phone if you want. GoPhone is compatible with most phones (even iPhones, like I mentioned above), so you can sign up with the phone you already have. All you have to do is insert a GoPhone-activated SIM card (check compatibility here).
  • AT&T's reliable 4G LTE network makes it easy to stay connected when you need to the most (ahem, when you get lost on the way to a sample sale in the city and the navigation needs to re-map a few times).

I know what it's like to be stuck in a typical 2-year contract, so it was nice to get a month of complete mobile freedom, knowing I could easily extend or change my plan when I wanted to. The GoPhone offers so many different options, and I like that it takes into account the fact that not everyone's needs are the same. It allows you to take charge without sacrificing the latest technology.

Beauty Box 5 Review: December 2014
  1. Juice Beauty - Stem Cellular Moisturizer - My favorite product in this month's box! This organic moisturizer is full of antioxidants and fruit oils. I loved the citrus scent and it was hydrating without feeling heavy. Definitely a winner.
  2. Nanacoco - Gold glitter nail polish in "Amber" - I'm a huge fan of Nanacoco nail polishes! I got this gorgeous gold glitter polish, which was perfect for the holidays and New Year's. I used it to create a glitter fade over a sheer white polish. See below.
  3. Absolute! New York - Nail polish remover pads -  This travel-size container is filled with a stack of pre-soaked nail polish remover pads--so convenient and clever! The lavender scent is quite pleasant and it's acetone-free. *It didn't work very well for my metallic/glitter polish, so you may need something a little stronger for sparkly polish.
  4. Body Drench - Lip Drench lip balm in Pomegranate - This lip balm contains Vitamin E Rosemary extract, and beeswax. It's a little thicker than some of my other lip balms, but I liked that aspect because it was really moisturizing. The flavor reminded me of fruit snacks, too.
  5. Lucky Brand - "Lucky Number 6" fragrance - This fragrance by Lucky Brand features a blend of lotus, tiger lily, cashmere woods, and jasmine. It has a rich, floral scent that's sophisticated and elegant.
