Last time Elana and I hung out a couple of months ago, we paid a mini visit to Ashley (#flocktogetherforever). We were talking about Dapper Day at Disneyland (Elana and I had never been), when Ashley mentioned there was a whole expo dedicated to all things Dapper Day--and it was free!

So we went (and got dressed up for it too, of course). I deliberated for a long time on what to wear before deciding on a tropical-themed floral dress I had thrifted. Luckily, my new Melissa Velia mini bow belt went with it perfectly (isn't it adorable? get it here). I also wore a boater hat, a thrifted Zara bag, and pink skimmers with little hearts on them.

The expo was a lot larger than I expected. There were so many awesome vintage and vintage-inspired vendors and boutiques, mostly clothing, but also jewelry, shoes, barbers, a bar, and some entertainment too. The attendees were easily the best-dressed people I'd ever seen in one room (special shoutout to the glamorous ladies in their mink fur coats and perfect hair in 85 degree weather). Tip: there's no such thing as over-dressing for this event. Promise.

We ended up doing a little shopping, then went in search of dessert. All in all, a perfect Saturday.

Huge thanks to Elana for the photos and for being equally as anxious/awkward/silly as me. It's why we're friends.

Beauty Blurb | Easy Ways To Up Your Beauty Game

Looking to make a few upgrades in your life? By making a few small changes, you can simplify and improve your beauty routine. Here are a few easy ways to up your beauty game:

Vintage Glass Vases & Jars. If you've read my blog before, you might know that I thrift almost every weekend. It's helped me save money and given me the chance to find some really unique and interesting items. Also, I enjoy the hunt! There's something about searching and searching and being rewarded with that one cool thing you know you couldn't find anywhere else.

I wanted to re-organize my makeup space and bathroom counter, so I went to Goodwill and got a few small vintage jars and vases. They're great for makeup brushes, q-tips, lip and eye liners, and cotton rounds. Added benefit: the vintage glass textures and shapes are cute in a shabby chic kind of way.

Dove Deodorant. I was happy to find out about Dove's Advanced Care Antiperspirant because it not only offers 48 hours of odor and wetness protection, but also has the added skincare benefits of Dove ¼ moisturizers and Nutrium Moisture for softer, smoother underarms. This was a definite upgrade to my already established routine because it keeps my dry and smells really good.

A Go-To Nude Lip Color. Sometimes you're in a rush in the morning and can't decide on an outfit, let alone a lip color (that can't be just me). It helps to have a great neutral nude lip color in your bag that you can use for everyday. Nude is perfect for any occasion, and you can always amp it up with some shimmery gloss and a smokey eye after work. If you find the perfect holy grail nude and it isn't too expensive, I recommend keeping an extra in your bag for touch ups.

Cotton Rounds. I've been obsessive about taking care of my skin and it's paying off. One of the upgrades I've made to my routine is using cotton rounds instead of the regular cotton balls. They're textured on one size and can remove makeup and nail polish easily. The softer side is ideal for applying toner. Plus, their flat shape means you can fit a lot more of them in a small container. I'm able to fit much more rounds than cotton balls in the jar I keep on my bathroom counter!
